re:How Do Power Outages Affect Your Access to Communication?
A major problem I have encountered has been power outages, especially during scheduled power cuts.
A power outage affects not only lighting, as one might think, but charging one’s cell phone, staying connected to the Internet, and receiving real-time notifications. I recall situations where my notifications did not get through or came through late once connectivity came back on.
I've begun to keep battery packs charged in advance, but it’s not always a predictable thing. It would be interesting to know what others do in regard to equipment or alerts they need a steady power supply for. -
Can One Person Qualify for More Than One Type of Support?
I have a question regarding the categories for eligibility and support.
What happens in situations where there is more than one disability which impacts communication? For instance, individuals who may be DeafBlind, or individuals who may have communication difficulties due to speech and cognition difficulties.
Is support generally limited to one form of solution, or do people qualify for more than one solution to meet different needs?
I'm asking in general, just trying to get a better understanding of how these types of intersecting needs are handled.
