Exciting New Products Coming Soon to the California Connect LMS

We are excited to continue expanding the California Connect LMS with a new wave of assistive technology courses designed to support independence, communication, accessibility, and everyday life. Over the coming months, users will begin seeing several new devices added to the platform, each selected to help meet the diverse needs of our community.

One device we are especially excited to spotlight is the HIMS Braille eMotion, a portable notetaker and refreshable braille display that combines accessibility with productivity. Designed for individuals who are blind or have low vision, the device supports braille input, document access, internet connectivity, and multimedia features in a compact and portable format. We are looking forward to providing both user-friendly learning experiences to help individuals get comfortable using the device in real world settings.

Another exciting addition is the Focus 14 Blue 5th Gen, a compact refreshable braille display designed for portability and daily accessibility use. The Focus 14 connects to smartphones, tablets, and computers using Bluetooth or USB and works alongside screen readers to provide braille access to digital content. Its lightweight size makes it easy to take on the go, whether at school, work, or during travel. The device also includes braille keyboard input, navigation controls, and long battery life to support users throughout the day. Upcoming LMS courses will focus on setup, navigation, connectivity, and practical everyday use in a simplified and accessible format.

We are also continuing the rollout of smart home and alerting technology, including devices such as the Google Nest Mini and Sonic Alert HomeAware Blink system. These tools can help users stay connected, receive important alerts, and interact more independently within their homes. Voice assistant technology can support reminders, weather updates, communication, entertainment, and smart home control through simple voice commands, while visual and vibration based alerting systems can provide added awareness for doorbells, alarms, and notifications.

Additional devices coming to the LMS include accessibility focused communication and safety tools, portable technology accessories, and products designed to improve daily convenience and confidence. As with all California Connect courses, the training experience will focus on accessibility, ease of use, and practical real-world application. Courses are being developed with simplified language, supportive visuals, and step by step guidance to make learning approachable for a wide range of users.

We are excited about what is ahead and look forward to continuing to grow the LMS with assistive technology that can make a meaningful difference in the lives of the individuals and communities we serve.
